G'day from LA !

Yes, you heard me right... just when you thought I was in Calgary for the duration, I've tripped down to California for a little under a week before I start my new job. I scored a cheap flight (thanks Air Canada) and my visit coincides with the week before American kids go on Spring break. Which means I only had to contend with foreign tourists at Universal Studios today.

It was terrific and ultra-cheesy. I'm not quite sure if the Californians are aware that they appear to be running on pure botox and red cordial (except red cordial has calories so that doesn't work), but they have a great, happy plastic outlook on life and work and I admire their efficiency to everything.

Today, I travelled down Wisteria Lane (Desperate Housewives) saw the pyrotechnics of Backdraft, went on the Jurassic park ride and met Marilyn Monroe (again, actually- she's also at Movie World on the Gold Coast- spooky). It's been a great day and I'm off to catch some photos of the sunset over the beach. Apparently the smog disperses the colours in a really beautiful way, which is the best thing that can be said for it.

Disneyland tomorrow. Here's an earworm (song that gets stuck in your head) to keep you entertained in the meantime, "It's a small world, after all".
