Adventureland

Can you hear it? The distant jungle drums and the sound of rushing water under an enormous leafy rainforest? Welcome to Adventureland.

Tarzan is not my favourite of the Disney cartoons, but I did really enjoy the film, how they cartooned him looking like he was skating and sliding through the trees set to an awesome Phil Collins soundtrack. Disney has faithfully paid tribute to the Tarzan story at the Park by a series of bridges over creeks connecting treehouses recreated from the story. It was brilliantly done and there were a lot of families particularly with little boys who were enjoying it. For Bec and I, it gave us a tree-top vantage point to orientate ourselves around the rest of the park.

Of course a central feature of Adventureland is the Indiana Jones ride. Now the world is divided into two kinds of people. One are whom, when I say, "Indiana Jones", instantly hear the music in their head, "Da dada Dah ! Da da da,"

.... and those who don't.

If you too can hear that theme music you'll understand my frustration to find the ride was closed. I was close to the silent foot-stamping tantrum I had in Vancouver when I used a dryer for the first time in 10 years and shrunk my favourite pair of jeans two sizes. A brief flash of wounded outrage and then I laughed and got over it just as quickly. Those same jeans now fit again and we were also informed that the ride might be open later in the day. Hope springs eternal. It was, but by then we had run out of time. You'll hardly feel sorry for me, or I for myself when you hear what we did the rest of the day.
