Welcome back to Calgary

After my little "big" trip to Disneyland I arrived back in Calgary to start work, go on weekend road trips with my "bestie" Laura and to get my hands and feet properly snow-sodden in Alberta.

Here are some shots taken of the Calgary tower and city by day and from the Centre St Bridge by night. The Centre St bridge is the oldest bridge over the Bow river in the centre of town. Magnificent stone lions guard the archways on the bridge. The Saddledome hockey stadium is to the right of the Calgary tower in the daytime wide shot. The dome of the building is shaped like a saddle (I know, I know !).

The picture of me with the map is a running joke. Laura is a geologist and as such has a PhD in reading maps. She can also drive on the right side of the road. Though I have recently been doing a little highway driving I have found my niche in our car travels in;

- singing "On the road again" in my best Willie Nelson accent
- joining her in a rousing chorus of "the Pirates of Saskatchewan"
- announcing when we pass an interesting- looking painted barn, grain silo, or moose or train crossing (both hazards which could put a Big Dent in the car)
- spotting deer
- asking "are we there yet ?" before we leave Calgary city limits
- passing her bottles of water, crisps and chocolate, AND
- pinching the map at each opportunity to prove I am ed-u-cated too.

Love the picks. Ps that wa the tower I had in the vision I had when we prayed two years ago. How cool is that.
