Whilst Ottawa was grey by day, it certainly put on it's colours at night. In honour of the Winterlude, the city put blue and white lights in the trees. My favourites were the oak trees, which looked fantastic. The shots of me (in my new toque- beanie) and Philipa "Miss Nova Scotia" were taken after we had been to the High School Theatre sports event in Ottawa, which was a terrific example of up-and-coming local theatre. If you look carefully you can see a tear in my eye. It's not emotion, it happens all the time in that kind of cold, your eyes water and the contents of your nose freeze. Very unromantic.

You've got some really great photographs of your travels here in Canada so far. Thank you for sharing them with the rest of us who can only hope to travel to those places for the first time or to see them again. I'm so glad that you have been able to experience as much of this great country as you have so far and I hope that you will enjoy the rest of your experience here. Thanks for your message. Why only "hope" to see places though? It might have taken me quite a few years and a lot of encouragement from my friends, but there is no rocket science to what I'm doing. If you don't have dependants you can make this kind of exetended trip happen. Plan, pray, budget and pack :-)

I suppose that "hope" was the wrong word. I plan on going to see places that I haven't been to before, it's only a matter of time and money. Next month I'm headed to Florida where I've never been before and where I never thought I would go, so I'm already on my way! I also hope to take some sort of road trip this summer, so we'll see how that goes. I'm starting a nine month legal assistant course soon so after that I'm going to get a good job and then see about getting a house and then travel. I fully intend on making it to Australia one day, I'll give you a warning before I get there!
