This morning my old friend Giles left me at the train station in Montreal. For the past 3 days I have been spoilt by an old friend and a new friend and seen much of what Montreal has to offer, which I will write about in another post. For now though I am at the penultimate location on my "holiday itinerary". Soon it will be over and time to get down to some serious reality with finding work etc. I must admit I felt very much like Paddington bear today sitting at the Montreal train station, in hat and coat and labelled luggage, wondering what will happen next and whether I will find friends and a home sometime soon on my journey.
But I did find some essential equipment in Montreal- my first 'toque'- a beanie essentially, but this one has tassels on it and it goes to show that one can be cheered up by the simple things, a pair of secondhand iceskates and a new coat, stuffed with so much down, hooded and to the knee that I look like a walking sleeping bag. Or combined with the balaclavas I also got- an Antartican serial killer.
