Well folks it's time to go. For the past two days the City of Sydney has opened up her sequin-encrusted arms and crushed me to her cloyingly fragrant bosom for the last time in a while. I've eaten barramundi with prawns, sat on the steps of the Opera House and watched the live outdoor telecast of the Australian Open on the big screen from Melbourne. I've been caught in rush hour in the Pitt St Mall and received dozens of phone calls of encouragement, goodbyes, cautionary suggestions and ticked my way through endless "to do" lists. I'm ready to collapse on a plane.
Tomorrow the wait is over. I've kissed you all goodbye.
